Department of Geography

The Department of Geography was founded in Dr. Ali Shariati Faculty of Letters and Humanities in 1957 at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. The aim of this department is to foster the study the relationship between human and the environment and to determine the degree to which each has effective impacts on the other. This means that the goal of this department is to help students in the review and analysis of the relation between man and the environment in order to explain the geographical phenomena. Based on this scientific knowledge, the objective of this department is to train students who are able to develop and promote human capabilities for improving living conditions.

The areas of specialization offered in the Department of Geography in the Master’s program (founded in 1990) are as follows:
